I was excited when the DJI OM 4 Gimbal that I had ordered arrived in the mail. I opened the box, reviewed the contents, read the instructions, and went through the painstaking task of affixing the magnetic mount to the back of my phone.
After placing the mount on my phone, I attached it to the Gimbal and powered it on. After a short time practicing with the Gimbal, I noticed that it appeared not to be level. I checked the level app on my phone, and it validated my assessment. My first thought was that it was due to me not placing the mount on the camera correctly. After a bit of time and frustration, I realized that the Gimbal needed calibration. I searched through the DJI Mimo app and found the calibration option.
To calibrate the Gimbal:
- Place it on a level surface and open the DJI Mimo App
- While in portrait mode, click the ellipse in the lower left-hand corner of the screen to open another menu.
- Click the middle “level” icon, then click Calibrate next to the Gimbal Auto Calibration menu item.
The Gimbal will go through a short auto-calibration cycle and notify you when it is complete.
I calibrated the Gimbal and rechecked the level app. To my happiness, the Gimbal was now level.
